Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate robust, scalable infrastructure in a primarily on-premises environment with hybrid cloud extensions.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys automation, reliability, and complex distributed systems, and who wants to work close to core infrastructure rather than purely cloud-native setups.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable, distributed platform architectures (on-prem with hybrid/cloud integrations)
- Develop and optimize system designs with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Deploy, operate, and support infrastructure solutions in data centers and hybrid environments
- Maintain architecture documentation, configurations, and operational runbooks
- Ensure system stability, observability, and uptime
- Implement and manage configuration management across on-prem and hybrid environments
- Build and maintain Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure service continuity (typically once every few weeks)
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems (filesystem, users, packages, shell scripting, administration)
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, Java, Go, Bash)
- Hands-on experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible)
- Solid experience with Git and version control workflows
- Familiarity with issue and change tracking tools (Jira, GitLab)
- Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure platforms, including containers, logging, and monitoring
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and pipeline management
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation (guides, tutorials, runbooks)
- Basic knowledge of security concepts (SSL/TLS, PKI)
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (WAN, LAN, DNS, OSI model, protocols)
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt to change
- Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn new technologies
Nice to Have
- Experience with container orchestration (Docker, Nomad, Kubernetes)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Vault, Consul, Packer)
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
- Exposure to DevOps practices in complex on-prem / hybrid environments
- Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
