Project Overview
We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join the core development team at a Czech startup revolutionizing the hospitality industry with the first AI-powered humanoid receptionist. Company is building a strong internal tech team focused on quality, ownership, and long-term innovation in AI and robotics.
This is a key fullstack/back-end focused role with strong DevOps and cloud-native engineering principles at its core. You’ll be part of a growing in-house team, working on scalable services and backend architecture that power real-time, AI-driven user interactions in a production-ready environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend components using Python, with a focus on performance and reliability
- Develop and maintain cloud-native microservices deployed on Azure Kubernetes Services
- Collaborate across engineering streams (AI, data science, frontend, hotel integrations) in a startup-style team
- Apply DevOps principles and CI/CD best practices in day-to-day delivery
- Support frontend/backend collaboration (React-based UI) with APIs and technical input
- Ensure high standards of code quality, test coverage, observability, and documentation
- Provide mentoring to junior developers and support code reviews
Skills Required
- 5+ years of experience in backend or fullstack development
- Strong knowledge of Python, cloud-native architectures, and distributed systems
- Proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, and Azure services
- Experience building scalable microservices and API-first applications
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and modern software delivery pipelines
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership over key features or subsystems
- English fluency; ability to work in an international, product-oriented team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with frontend technologies (JavaScript, React)
- Understanding of modern architectural patterns (event-driven, domain-driven design)
- Background in AI or data science is a plus, but not required
