About job

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Django Developer to join the Automated Business Solutions team and contribute to the development and maintenance of non-critical internal enterprise web applications.

You will work on both greenfield solutions and the modernisation of existing legacy applications, building scalable, efficient, and user-friendly web solutions that support business processes across the organisation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Django-based web applications.
  • Build greenfield applications and deliver major enhancements to existing solutions.
  • Optimise and automate business processes using Django.
  • Integrate Django applications with other services and systems.
  • Migrate and modernise legacy solutions, for example from web2py or Microsoft Access to Django.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to improve development efficiency and code quality.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for deployed applications.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders during requirements gathering, testing, and delivery.
  • Document solutions and contribute to best practices and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform code reviews and provide guidance on application design and implementation.
  • Support and mentor junior developers.
  • Skills required

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Django, including both backend and frontend development.
    • Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining complete Django applications from scratch.
    • Ability to develop solutions based on business requirements or modernise and refactor existing legacy applications.
    • Experience with data-entry, booking, or similar applications handling thousands of records.
    • Knowledge of deployment and production environments.
    • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
    • Experience guiding colleagues, performing code reviews, and consulting on application design and implementation.
    • Ability to work effectively with a limited toolset and within strict policies or technical constraints.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proactive and collaborative mindset.
    • Fluent English, minimum B2 level.

    Nice to have:

    • Experience with VBA, including Excel or Microsoft Access.
    • Experience with other Python-based web frameworks, such as web2py.
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
    • Familiarity with GitHub Copilot.
    • Experience with GitHub or Bitbucket.
    • Background in finance, banking, or insurance.

    What can you expect?

  • Work on internal enterprise web applications that support business processes across the organisation.
  • A combination of greenfield development, major enhancements, and legacy application modernisation.
  • Opportunity to take a senior technical role and support and mentor junior developers.
  • Work in a regulated enterprise environment with established policies and technical constraints.
  • Part-time engagement of 20 hours per week.
